Seek Your Future's mission is to provide comprehensive, caring educational and vocational counseling to current high school students and those who have already graduated. I believe that all young people dream about a vision for their future and deserve the opportunity and necessary support to seek and work toward a personally rewarding life.
I can assist families in several ways:
Student Assessment: offer face-to-face meetings with students to assess their personal and academic strengths. During this process, I focus on maximizing the positive aspects of their life and encourage them to express their feelings.
Educational Options: review the student's academic history and assist them in planning how to increase their post-secondary options. This discussion will address what types of colleges may be the best "fit", including those with special resources and interdisciplinary freshman programs.
Timelines: work with the student to create a reasonable timeline for researching schools, taking exams, and meeting admissions deadlines. This will assist the student to stay on schedule without parents having to "nag".
Finances: meet with parents and students to discuss issues such as how to finance a college education and how this knowledge may impact their student's school choices.
College List: build a list of colleges to consider and offer advice on how to maximize the student's success. This may include advice for visiting the college and how to develop a relationship with admissions staff.
Applications: assist students with application materials, prepare them for interviews, guide their portfolio creation, and coach them how to effectively utilize online and mobile resources.
Job Hunt: coach students going to the job market on how to clarify career interests, build a resume, organize a job hunt, and interview.
Support for a successful transition to college and independent living is also offered. This can include working with specialized programs and schools.
"Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands."
